Can we talk about how children of color are not given the same status of innocence as white children? Can we talk about how when children of color are hurt by or die at the hands of the police or some other white person, it’s “just standard procedure?” Can we talk about how if this happened to a 12 year old white girl, that police officer would probably be on trial right now? Can we talk about how police officers continue to do these things because it’s so normalized to hurt a nonwhite child? Can we talk about how when a PoC has unpaid traffic tickets, they are considered criminals? Can we talk about how children of PoC “criminals” are being criminalized? Can we talk about the lack of compassion for this child and the victim displacement?

And terrorist white dudes who shoot up movie theaters have online fanclubs. There are no fanclubs for PoC who survive this cruel white supremacist system. There’s hardly a kind fucking word for our children.

Innocence.

Can we fucking talk about that?
