i wanted to be a native american for halloween. who cares? why is everyone coming at me for being racist against native americans because of that?

3. white people dress up as african americans for halloween too, example : this halloween miley cyrus was nicki minaj, so does that make her racist against african americans?

NO.

take it as a compliment that somebody wants to be like somebody from your culture.

i don’t see anything wrong with the situation.

i apologie if i hurt anybody’s feelings with being a native american for halloween, that’s not how i wanted it to come across. but, i’ve been contacted by numerous people on here for it and my photos have been reblogged saying i’m racist and i’m the farthest thing from it. everybody just chill the fuck out. 

You know what I take as a compliment? White people (and non-natives in general) who are willing to shut up and listen to what natives have to say. I take it as a compliment when people come to me, interested in our history, asking how they can explore indigenous traditions without being disrespectful. When people are interested in actual, bona fide cultural sharing, as opposed to taking bits and pieces of something they find aesthetically pleasing for their own personal gain without giving back.

I DO NOT and WILL NOT ever take it as a compliment to see you perpetuating ugly stereotypes of my people, and then crying about how “YOU JUST NEED TO GET OVER IT!!!” when those of us it’s hurting ask you to stop.
