Reverse Racism
I like how Lena Dunham can’t write what she doesn’t know but she can sure comment on things she doesn’t know about when it makes her look good as a so-called role model.
So not only is it impossible and ‘unrealistic’ for people of color to exist in fantasy and in history but it’s also a lie for us to exist in the present as well.

So after an initial attempt at an apology that equated headscarves and burqas and then made an Ishtar joke, Lena Dunham deleted the tweets and made what might be a sincere apology or what might just be a really passive-aggressive one, and I’m not really inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt here?
The first tweet about deleting seemed to be a real thank you to people for calling her out but then the ‘boundaries of humour’ bit seemed a little snide.
More importantly, all the white people on Twitter [N.B. No, I know, not all the white people. I’m sorry for generalizing about you, fellow white people!] decided to defend her, accept her apology, tell her that her apology was unnecessary because all of those racialized folks who got offended are oversensitive, etc. etc. etc.
My favourite is the white woman who @ replied to Dunham saying NO! FIGHT THE POWER! on the topic of Dunham deleting her offensive Tweets.
Because, you know, in this situation, the offended people of colour are clearly the ‘power’ and not the white writer of an HBO comedy, and what Public Enemy really had in mind when they said FIGHT THE POWER was defending the rights of white people to say ill-informed racist stuff.
